Club to compete on the UK's elite circuit

Updated: Feb 28, 2022

We're pleased to announce that both the Lions and the Lionesses have

been offered and accepted places as core teams in the 2022 UK Super Sevens Series.

Last week, via social media, we announced that the Lions will be a core side and today we are pleased to announce that the Lionesses will be following suit and competing in the series too.

The series is home to many worldwide sevens sides including Samurai & the British Army, with a number of the current cohort of World Sevens Series players having cut their teeth in the competition.

Spread over 4 legs, the competition kicks off in May 2022 at Newbury RFC, followed by another May event at London Irish RFC. After a break in June, play returns at Stafford RFC before the finale at the Aldershot Army Stadium. All games will be available to watch via livestream, details of which will be available in due course.

Founder Arun Watkins said, "Firstly, it is fantastic to be able to say that in the Super Series 2022 season, we will be a core side on with not one but both of our sides. I would say it is a bigger achievement for the Lionesses brand as it will be their inaugural year. However whilst becoming a core team is a great honour for us as a club, we know the hard work starts now with our actions on the pitch! We look forward to proving ourselves against the UK's and some of the world's best in the summer".

There is a small number of commercial opportunities left for the Lions & Lionesses for the 2022 season. If this is of interest to you please contact our team at: or
